Being a 'Kraut'

Proud Kraut?

--- To be continued in the following days ---

In this post I'm going to talk about the external perception of Germany and how I feel about living in the USA for the upcoming nine weeks.

In general, there exist three main stereotypes about Germany:
  1. "The Nazis"
Many people still think Germans are all Nazis. When I asked people in the UK, many of them thought we still have the political system from the times of World War 2. This is no joke.
  2. "Very punctual, strictly enforce and follow rules"
Germans don't know what Siesta is.
  3. "Beer, Sausages and Sauerkraut"
For some reasons, the bavarian culture often stands in place of the whole German culture. No, we don't wear "Lederhosen" (leather trousers) all day long!
